There has been lots going on around these parts in the last two months. We are really enjoying our new house but there has been SO much to do. Of course like any house renovation, it takes longer, costs more, and gets old faster than you think it will! I hate to say that because I sound so ungrateful because I really am happy that we get to do all this work on the house but its a little stressful when you're racing the clock...or in my case a time the time bomb I've been lugging around! It gets frustrating at times because I want to be involved and do stuff on the house but often I don't have the energy or there are too many fumes or something. Jake has been superman. He works all day and comes home and works most of the evening on the house and usually gets Owen ready for bed for me. I seriously don't know what I would do without him! He has been my rock. At some point I will post a few before and after pics. Its all starting to come together and I know it will be worth it when its all said and done! Our fams are so good to us! Jake's brothers have spent Saturdays helping Jake. My mom has been here twice to help me paint and organize. Just last week she came with my sister and bro-in-law and we worked two and a half days straight to get a bunch of projects done. We wouldn't survive without fam!
So yes I'm having twins and just like this blog it has kind of been coming in second behind the house. People say all the time, I just can't imagine having two babies. My reply is, neither can I! Its our reality buying things in twos and trying to come up with two names but I seriously don't even know how to actually prepare to have them here. As uncomfortable as being pregnant can be, I'm pretty sure that is going to be the easy part! Its going to be tough but I am pretty excited to snuggle my two little girls. Another thing people ask me is if it feels different being prego with two. Uh yes it does. Actually it hasn't been until recently that that has been the case. I've felt really good so I can't complain. But my goodness these two are wrestling or doing jumping jacks or something in there! It's pretty crazy. I also feel so much more tired this time around. Its been kind of hard finding a balance between taking it easy and still getting all the daily house stuff done. In fact my house is most often in shambles. I walk over stuff all day just because I'm too lazy to bend over and pick whatever it is up! I also have to go to dr. appointments more often. I'm already going once a week plus I have to start getting non-stress tests at the hospital so they can monitor the babies. I get to see my little ones all the time because we have an ultrasound every check-up to check their heart beat. I have already had two super-hootie ultrasounds at the hospital where they go through and measure each little body part and will probably have one more in a couple of weeks. Ultrasound is always so cool but these ones take an hour and a half minimum. It seems to be a challenge for the tech to be able to keep track of which limb belongs to which baby because they don't hold still very well. (: Anyway, that gets a little uncomfortable after awhile and I usually have to stop for potty breaks! So its been a fun and also crazy experience so far. One night Jake said it almost like winning the lottery! How many people get to have twins. (: I thought that was pretty funny!
Owen has had a rough couple of weeks. Colds, coughs, teething, and our personal fav, hand foot and mouth. But he has been a little angel the last three days and quite frankly we deserve it after so many rough weeks!! He turned 2 at the beginning of October and had a really fun birthday. The little tikes police car we gave him totally tanked for the first couple of days...he didn't want to get in it and said no, I scared. Maybe it was the sirens or maybe he thought it would drive off with him in it but he no likey at first. His favs were the monster truck that makes all sorts of noise and chants "Bigfoot! Bigfoot!" (which he chants as well, thanks Em) and all the trucks he got. He loves them!
We also took his binki which wasn't fun at all but has been such a good thing, I wish we had done it sooner. He is also sleeping in a big boy bed and has transitioned so well. He is getting all grown up but he will always be my baby boy!
So if you have made it this far actually reading my blog than you are pretty good. I usually just look at the pictures. I didn't mean to go off and write so much but I obviously had a lot on my mind! Life is only going to get more crazy but we have so much to be thankful for!

I am so excited to read that things are going well. I have been thinking about you. I can't wait to see what has been done with your house! I can't even imagine being pregnant with twins. Wow!!! Take care of yourself!!
ReplyDeletewow!! what a post! :) glad to hear everything is going great with the pregnancy..except for being uncomfortable. These past couple of days for me I finally realized that it's getting kinda hard to bend over to put my shoes on! John just laughs...he's so sensitive sometimes! :)
ReplyDeleteI also feel for you on the house situation-we're totally in the same boat! getting a new house is exciting but the process of actually getting it is driving me bonkers! good luck and take care of yourself!!!
Hey I haven't forgotten about you! I think about you and glad that things are coming together for you. Call me any time if you have questions. I will call you after this week when I am done helping with Sharon's Reception. It's hard for me to concentrate on more than one thing at a time lately. But seriously in the mean time if you need anything let me know. I didn't realize you were remodeling the house and actually just found out that you had moved into a new house. What do you need help with? I promise I will call you because reading your blog all the memories came flooding back. DO take it easy!! It is crazy hard but I promise it is worth it to have those babies in you as long as possible. We'll keep in touch.
ReplyDeleteHey, glad to hear you are doing good. I still have this gift sitting here for you. Maybe this week I can get it down to you. We would love to have Owen come play with us sometime so you can have a nap or just some time to yourself. Hang in there and let me know what we can do to help!!
ReplyDeleteI think about you so much while I take care of my little Saydi and wonder how you're going to do it with two! If anyone can it's you though. I'm sure they're going to be adorable. I tell Becky's twins all the time that there had to be two of them because they're so adorable I would have eaten one of them so now I can spread it out between the two of them. I think that's how twins are! Do you know if they're identical or fraternal? Owen is adorable as ever and once again...Weston has the same shirt he's wearing in his birthday pics! We seriously have the same taste in boy clothes. =) Good luck with everything and yes...take it easy. Your house can be clean when your kids are older. =) Miss you!!
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait for those little girls to come either! I didn't like this stage of pregnancy when you can't bend over---no fun at all, but you look awesome! Honestly, you do amazing. We were so glad that we finally got to see your house, which by the way, is so cozy and cute. We can't wait to see all the progress that you guys have made. Take it easy though because you will need your rest in the next few months:). I wish we were closer to you guys so we could help! Glad Owen is feeling better--what a cute boy. Good job on his cake, too. We really miss you all!
ReplyDeleteIt is good to hear how you are doing. I can't even imagine what it would be like carrying two little babies. I am so excited for you to be having twin girls though. They will be the most darling little girls. Owen is now two, wow it goes by fast. I hope everything goes well with the rest of the house. The pics you have posted it looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteOh, you are such a sweet family! And soon to be a family of five, which personally I think is awesome! The more the merrier, and crazier! I agree with you, you have a gem of a husband - he really is superman, and you're only seeing the beginning of that. Heath has amazed me so much with each new child and new challenge... it makes such a difference when you marry the right one, doesn't it? I see the last picture you just posted of you three and the two in your tummy and I cry! Maybe because I'm feeling some of the same pregnant mommy feelings, or because you are such a sweet family, maybe also because I know it takes work to be a family and that work makes having a family sweet. And I know that work is ahead for you, but you are used to work and it won't be above you at all. Tiring sure, exhausting sure, but certainly not above you! You are such a capable person and a capable team - I am excited for the coming months, as excited as I am for my own little arrival! Take care. I can't wait to see the before and after pics. Your mom came over and gave me a play-by-play of what you guys did, which was pretty cool, it sounds like you got a lot done! I bet that feels really good. You guys & girls take care, we love you!

ReplyDeleteYour little family is so cute and you are looking great! You'll do fantastic with handling two at once. I'm sure Owen will be really good at helping out too. :) Good luck with the rest of the pregnancy and tackling the house projects.
ReplyDeleteLife goes on doesn't it... I have been meaning to do a few catch up posts myself. Maybe I'll see you this weekend. We'll be in town for Sharon's wedding. Good luck with everything.
ReplyDeleteGretch! You are amazing! A new house, with renovations, and a two year old, and twins! A new baby is a lot of work, and two! You will be so great. You are such a good mom to Owen, those little girls are so lucky! Good luck with the picking of names! How fun! Take care of yourself and those little ones! (By the way, Jake you are an awesome dad!)
ReplyDeleteGretchen!! I don't know if you remember me, Emily Infanger (now Hansen) from Salmon! I will never forget all the fun golf tournaments! Your family is so adorable! I hope you are doing well!!
ReplyDeleteOh Gretchen, how I miss you. I am so glad you wrote all you did, I love being caught up on your life. hand foot and mouth, what a coinicidence...all of Casen's cousins got it and even Brandon's lil sister, but we were lucky and avoided it, but sure play russian roulette with it. I can't wait to come see you, I think we are comin over for the Alumni game at NWC...that should be embarrasing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your load of confidence, it sure helps to hear that from you. I feel the same about you. I know that there will be a new normal for a while for both of us, and we are up to it. Nichela came over today and helped me organize in some of the same ways that she helped you, and it helped to have her. And was nice to have someone who is functioning with more than half a brain, tell me what I should do, or at least give me ideas, it sure helped! :) Tomorrow she'll cut and color me, I'm so overdue, and it'll be nice to be short again. My dr. wants me to go in for 2 stress tests next week: one on Tues (a day after my due date) and Friday (the day after when I think I'll actually have her). I'm not sure why, everything is fine. I've never had one. Your mom said maybe she's just covering her bases. I don't let her check me and since I don't want to be induced, I think I'm probably different than a lot of patients, so maybe she just wants to be sure, but I'm just scratching my head still. I just think, at this point, whatever! Take care over there!!!
